The Fascinating World of Ants

Ants are small insects, and are normally black or brown in color. They are very active and strong, and have highly developed social organization. They never tire of working and are very dedicated.

Ants have great unity, and work as team throughout summer, gathering grain and storing it up for winter. If you watch ants walking down a path, or meeting each other on the way, you will notice that they seem to greet each other as they go along.

We can learn a great deal from these little insects. They have qualities which man should cultivate too. Ants are synonymous with hard work, team spirit, unity, farsightedness. They also teach us that we should work for what we want -there is no short cut to success.

They are very methodical by nature, and their anthills are well-planned. Once roused, an ant can bite and sting badly. Even the mighty elephant, it is said, can be reduced to nothing if an ant climbs up his trunk and stings him there!

So small and insignificant, yet, so wise -that's what ants are all about!

@GoodLady -thanks for your lovely comment and yes it can be said that with hard work they are also naughty. I remembered by my lawn there were also a colony of ants. They lived there whole year and when dad noticed them he cemented the area for no further and my small brother marked a board which states "No Guesthouse Available"

We have an ant city under the driveway to our house. Every year they come out when the cold is over and every year they start their long marches backwards and forward this amazing hole in the ground for months...the very same place (ant city!) they have done for YEARS and years!

Amazing ants.

Nice hub. Thanks

They sometimes build giant nests in Germany and are fun to watch; unless you get too close!
